Dual Domain is an Autodesk proprietary tool that generates meshes directly from CAD or STL files.
A Dual Domain (previously referred to as Fusion) mesh has elements on all bounding surfaces of a solid. Similar to a 3-D surfaced CAD model, the volume between the bounding surfaces is empty. The matching of inside and outside walls, thicknesses and flow characteristics are accounted for by Autodesk's Dual Domain technology.
Midplane and 3-D are alternatives to Dual Domain.
