Fusion is a Moldflow proprietary tool that generates meshes directly from STL or CAD files.
A Fusion mesh has 2.5-D elements on all bounding surfaces. Similar to a 3-D surfaced CAD model, the volume between the bounding surfaces is empty. The thickness and flow characteristics are accounted by Moldflow's Fusion dual domain technology.
Midplane is an alternative to Fusion.
