3-D Moldflow Analysis
3-D analysis is a revolution in injection molding simulation, analysis and prediction. Although 2.5-D methods (midplane and Fusion) are still the most efficient method for the bulk of injection molded parts, 2.5-D does not work well with widely varying wall thicknesses or thick-walled parts. 3-D analysis is the tool for handles and pump parts as well as many automotive and consumer product applications. 3-D methods also address issues such as gravitational effects, jetting and 3-D fiber orientation.
3D Shapes leads the way in providing filling, packing, cooling and warpage analysis using these 3-D methods. These are compute-intensive applications—finite element mesh sizes greater than 1,000,000 elements are common. 3D Shapes is equipped to efficiently run these mega-element parts.
Even though 3-D is the only solution for some parts, don't be fooled by consultants that claim that 3-D is always the best approach. For many parts, midplane or Fusion are still better solutions. This multi-technique capability is one of the many reasons that 3D Shapes and Moldflow provide the most complete solution for injection molding analysis. At 3D Shapes, we are skilled in all three methods, and we will pick the optimal solution for your projects.
If your parts will benefit from 3-D analysis, call 3D Shapes.
