Co-Injection (Sandwich Molding) Molding Analysis

3D Shapes became involved with co-injection analysis in the mid-90s. We have worked with several of the pioneers in this field and have had excellent correlation between the analysis and molded parts. We are currently working closely with the equipment suppliers to help promote use of co-injection methods.

The Moldflow co-injection module requires a midplane mesh and allows both A-B and A-B-A co-injection simulation.

Co-injection analysis will help you understand the skin/core distribution for new parts well before tooling is built. This will allow you to assess the properties and savings for your co-injection project. Analysis sequences available for co-injected parts include filling, packing, cooling and warpage.
