Gas-Assist Molding Analysis

Gas-assist part

Short Shot Gas-Assist

We have analyzed dozens of gas-assist parts—from large parts with in-part runners (gas channels) to small handles—including evaluation using short-shot, spillover and local packing techniques.

Gas-assist requires the use of a midplane or 3-D mesh. One reason for our success with gas-assist analysis is our experience using our CAD tools to generate accurate midplane models. It is vital to understand the correct methods for modeling gas-channels and spillovers as well knowing when to apply 3-D techniques and meshes to thick-walled geometry.

Regardless of your equipment supplier, we can help you. We have worked extensively with Bauer PTG and recommend their equipment and technical support if you are looking for resources.

Many of the patented gas-assist methods, such as spillover, are in the public domain. Therefore, many of the previous licensing requirements which were barriers to the widespread use of gas-assist no longer exist.
